Do you know a teacher in the Redding, CA area that's pretty spectacular? Show your appreciation with a nomination for Toyota Family Teacher of the Year Award! The grand prize is $20,000-- which could go towards a new car, like a versatile, family-friendly Toyota RAV4 perhaps?

Toyota is working with the National Center for Families Learning (NCFL) to hold the competition, which recognizes a teacher that not only engages his or her young students, but also parents and fellow educators.

In the past, the honor operated as the Toyota Teacher of the Year, but as the organization realized how integral family is to a child's learning development, they revamped the award to revolve around family.

To be eligible, teachers must exhibit excellence in engaging families with their school, use of innovative intergenerational tactics, prove his or her success, offer exciting ideas to further their work, serve communities or families that have high literacy rates and socioeconomic needs, and are able to communicate effectively to other families and educators across the United States.

NCFL and Toyota are on the hunt for a teacher that demonstrates incorporating families into the education process. You can recommend an amazing teacher in your life by heading over to (http://familieslearning.org/teacher) and filling out an online nomination form.

The winner will receive a gift of $20,000, to go towards furthering their work of bringing together parents, children, and teachers to create the ultimate learning experience. Second place will earn $5,000. All winners will be announced in February at the Families Learning Summit and National Conference on Family Literacy 2014, in Washington, D.C.
